The odd thing about materialism is that it is not even supported by science. Everything from quantum mechanics through human neuroscience refutes it. Yet when people are philosophical materialists, they ignore all that.

Hate seems to outweigh everything including reason. I recently saw a long discussion of modern times by an individual where the person blamed religion for all the world’s ills. Such a person is not amenable to reason. Emotions rule. If they can find one instance of a negative in a religious person that justifies all their emotions about religion being false and meaningless.

Essentially people are materialists not because it makes sense but because it supports their feelings. They do not want to change their emotions.

Sometimes within families, a religious person can prevail if they do not bring religion up,

The interesting thing is, this is how God built us. The evidence for Him is overwhelming but it is hard for many to find/accept Him.

There are many insightful points in this essay but it will change nothing. It is preaching to the choir and the choir is getting smaller and smaller each day.

Materialists are of many stripes but we assume they are all of one family of thinkers. Does anyone believe the materialism of Wall Street /Silicon Valley is the same as that of the Harvard faculty or the Democrat Party? They have something in common, namely atheism and a disdain for Truth, but that may be it. Their objectives are wildly different even if both will try to use blunt power to achieve their objectives.

What is missing from this long essay is a coherent argument as to why they are wrong. We are told that they just believe in particles in motion. But no where is there an alternative explanation that is an irrefutable disproof of their beliefs.

So while very insightful, this essay will turn no heads and as said above, just preach to the choir.
